Taking Action: A Vacant Property Toolkit for Local Government

Who should come?  Elected Officials, Trustees, Municipal staff, County staff and treasurers 
 
Business and Professional People for the Public Interest, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago are pleased to invite you to the release of “Confronting the Vacant Property Challenge: A Tool Kit for Municipalities.”  This document describes successful strategies that communities, both locally and nationally, have developed to address the challenges arising from vacant buildings left behind by foreclosure.  Featured topics include: Creating a Vacant Building Registry, Building a Vacant Property Early Warning Database, and Recovering Costs of Property Maintenance. 
 
There is no charge for this event; however, attendance will be limited to allow for active participation by all attendees.  As a result, conference reservations will be accepted on a first-received basis. Please note that you must register in advance for this event; persons who have not registered in advance will not be admitted to the event.  For security purposes a government issued photo I.D. is needed for entry into the building.  Event sign-in will begin at 1:30 pm.  Beverages and a light snack will be provided and the program will end at 5:00 p.m.
