Coordinating Inter-Suburban Recovery: ARRA Initiatives Across Chicago’s Southern Suburbs (MPC, MMC, SSMMA)

Collaborative efforts spurred by RHOPI partner Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC), with Metropolitan Mayors Caucus (MMC) and the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA), to coordinate Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds in West and South Cook County were recently featured as a national best practice by the Brookings Institute. Brookings says that the historic joint effort to tie existing planning goals into stimulus plans "promotes neat, effective, and efficient program and policy coordination without a separate, parallel stimulus process."
